That's My Q #58 - "Remember, Remember..."

-={On}=- [Dark Alley, London]

Old: She couldn't see a dark figure coming from the shadows behind them, "The multiplying villainies do swarm upon him" the man said, clad fully in black, white Fawksian mask covering his true identity.

New: The Fingermen looked around, and walked closer to the man fully in black, wondering who he was. "And fortune on his damned quarrel, smiling, showed like a rebel whore" V continued his monologue from Shakespearean writing.

One of the fingermen stepped up to him and grabs his hand "But all's to weak for brave MacBeth… well he deserves that name" V said looking intently into the man his eyes. Now all the Fingermen ganged up and the leading man spoke up "You're in trouble, chum. Big trouble. This woman is a criminal. We're police officers… She's wanted for interrogation so keep your…"

At that moment the man heard a click and stood there with the hand from V in his own hand, he frowned a bit and finished his sentence "hands off"

V then stormed forward, throwing the man on his back and beating the men away from in front of the girl. "Disdaining fortune, with his brandished steel;" he kicked the last man out of the way with rather ease before he came to a stand still in front of the girl "Like valours minion, carved out his passage… `till he faced the slave"

V grabbed on to Evey, who in reaction couldn't resist really, even if she wanted to. But it seemed that this man had saved her, she couldn't resist the man that had saved her. With Evey in one arm V turned around and put out the arm from which the fingerman had taken the hand. He the shot out a potent gas from the hole in the arm, the fingermen were rendered unconscious.

He took evey and walked out of the smoke, seemingly unaffected by the gas "which ne'er shook hands… `nore bade farewell to him" V said before getting out of hearing seeing and whatever other distance there was in this godforsaken place.

Evey was a bit shaken as they came to a standstill on top of a roof, she was a bit confused as to how they got there but that didn't matter, she was safe now, safe from the fingermen. She looked at the man, fully clad in black and identity mysterious. "Who are you?" she asked.

"Who? Who is but the form following the function of what and what I am is a man in a mask." V suddenly was a bit less sure of himself as he finished that remark, he got a flashback to the party, to Q. What was he doing? He killed policemen… but he had to, he had no choice.

Evey was a bit confused at this sudden change of tone and the mysterious answer "Well I can see that…" she finally was able to comment.

"Of course you can…" Caelen his confusion ebbed away, if this was real he had to play it out for Evey's sake, if it wasn't real… who cared what he did "…I'm not questioning your powers of observation I'm merely remarking upon the paradox of asking a masked man who he is"

Evey got even more confused "Oh… right" the feeling crept up that she might have been better off with the fingermen. Of course this wasn't really the case but somehow she had the feeling that this was a mad man.

"But on this most auspicious of nights, permit me then, in lieu of the more commonplace sobriquet, to suggest the character of this dramatis persona." Vaelen then started, no longer quite sure what was supposed to come after but hoping that the V personality would take over, which it did.

V stepped back a bit and threw his cloak wide open, showing his daggers, on the first word "Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van-guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition."

At that point he drew a dagger from his belt and carved a V into the poster that was hung on the wall next to him and put the dagger back in its sheet "The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous."

V folded his hands in front of his mask and giggled a bit before finishing "Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it's my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V."

Evey, even more confused by this, started to step back a bit, ready to run if this man were to try anything "Are you like, a crazy person?" she asked him, sheepishly innocent.

V laughed again and smiled, although it was invisible through his mask "I am quite sure they will say so" he answered, knowing it would be true for both Caelen and the V character. "But whom do I have the pleasure to speak to?" he then asked Evey.

"I'm Evey…" she responded a bit hesitantly "…Evey Hammond"

"E-V … of course you are" V responded, again mysteriously.

"What does that mean?" Evey asked, getting more and more confused by this man by the second, and what the hell were they doing on this roof, overlooking a fair part of the city of London, or more specifically, the Old Bailey.

"That I like God to not play with dice and do not believe in coincidence" V responded before turning to the old Bailey "Do you know what day it is Evey?"

Evey frowned a bit and stepped forward "uhm…" she thought it over, confusion and chaos still reigning supreme in her head "…November the fourth?" she concluded right before the Big Ben sounded midnight.

V smiled a bit beneath his mask "Not anymore"
