That's My Q #99 - "Fools and Heroes"

OOC: Come On People! One More Week! Get to Posting!!!

-={On}=- [The Shadow Gallery, Somewhere in London]

V was bent over his work when he heard a rush behind him, immediately he shot up and pulled a dagger from his belt. Then he relaxed a bit seeing who it was "Q" he stated, less then enthusiastic.

Q smiled a bit before stepping closer "So Captain, out of all the crew I would have expected you to shout out my name in agony the first… but here you are…" he looked around the gallery "…just doing what your character is supposed to do"

Caelen looked a bit awkward at the use of his rank "Yes I am doing just that… I have to…" he stated before sitting down again, to continue what he was doing "…I understand his reasons, I understand his motives… now more then ever before… I have to complete his mission, to whatever end"

Suddenly Q appeared in front of him "You do realise what that end is, don't you?" he asked, knowing where the story of this particular character ended.

"More even then you do…" V Caelen answered "…but these believes are so strong, so just… I am willing to fight for them…" he looked Q straight in the eyes "…I am willing to Die for them"

Q was surprised at this man's determination "You do realize that this is real, don't you?" he asked.

"I do… but I also realise that you would never let me die…" Caelen responded, having been fully briefed on the Q "…and if you do then at least I died a hero"

Q shook his head "or a fool" he lifted his hand and snapped his fingers. A white haze of light made him disappear.

V looked down on the contraption he had created "Hero or Fool…" he picked up the belt with explosives and tied them around his waist "…at least I will have made a difference"

[Meanwhile at The BTN]

Evey was still a bit shaky from last night, after that weird man had saved her he had taken her to a roof, to look at the old bailey right before it had blown up. The music kept ringing in her ears and the vision would not leave her eyes.

"Do you believe this shit?" a colleague asked "I saw it… I saw the whole thing… that wasn't demolition… did you see it?" she asked Evey.

Evey quickly shook her head "No… no I didn't…" she responded.

"Oh yeah, that's right, you had a date with daddy Deitrich" her colleague smiled before turning back to the screen.

The door swung open and an authoritive looking female stepped in "Evey, do you still work for me or what?" she asked, not waiting for an answer she continued giving a list of demands that Evey had heard day after day until a rather interesting part "and Mister Deitrich is ready for his tea"

[Half an hour later, security Desk]

The lift came to a stop, Caelen took a breath in, this was it, his moment of glory. The doors opened and he walked out, his cloak covering the explosives around his waist.

The security officer manning the desk quickly pulled his gun "Show me ID or I'll get Storm Saxon on your ass!" he shouted pointing the weapon at the rather big man fully clad in black.

V threw his cloak aside, showing the explosive belt around his body and the detonator in his left hand. The rush of adrenaline made the rest seem like a blur. The security man guided him to the director's room where he forced them to play a mini-disc on the emergency broadcast channel.

A short stutter in the broadcast on every television set in London, after that the black slowly fade away and showed V behind a desk, behind him a red curtain. "Good evening, London." V on the television screen introduced himself. "Allow me first to apologize for this interruption. I do, like many of you, appreciate the comforts of every day routine- the security of the familiar, the tranquility of repetition. I enjoy them as much as any bloke."

"But in the spirit of commemoration, thereby those important events of the past usually associated with someone's death or the end of some awful bloody struggle, a celebration of a nice holiday, I thought we could mark this November the 5th, a day that is sadly no longer remembered, by taking some time out of our daily lives to sit down and have a little chat."

He folded his hands in front of him before continueing, "There are of course those who do not want us to speak. I suspect even now, orders are being shouted into telephones, and men with guns will soon be on their way. Why? Because while the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth."

He let that sink in for one second before announcing "And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there?"
