Pandora's Box #118 - "Downtime"

Hey there! I@m Sandy Radford, playing your new Chief Tactical Officer, Hannah O'Driscoll. It's a pleasure to join this crew, and I look forward to simming with you in the future.

[Starfleet Headquarters, Obsidian]

Hannah sighed. It had been three weeks since she had applied for a new ship. Three weeks since the decomissioning ceremony of the Polaris, and she had been kicking her heels, waiting for news. Finally, she had been called to a meeting with the officer assigned to her transfer, and she'd been forced to endure a whole series of questions that she'd already answered seven or eight times.

"I'm sorry?" The Lieutenant Commander sitting opposite her asked.

"Uh...nothing, sorry."

He nodded, uninterested. "Well, Lieutenant, as I'm sure you're aware, there are very few vacancies available that fit your requirements."

<Or were willing to take me.> Hannah thought to herself. She nodded. "Have you found anything at all?" She asked, trying to disguise her eagerness.

"Yes, I've found something I think will serve just fine." the Lieutenant Commander said, smiling - Chief Tactical Officer on the USS Montreal."

"And she is a..."

"Miranda class."

"A Miranda class?" Hannah said in disbelief. "Are you serious? Tell me Commander, what aren't I doing? My transcripts are exemplary, my record is excellent, my 3D reasoning scores second to none, and yet you stick me on a Miranda class?"

"It's a step up from the Steamrunner you were on before..." he said, defensively.

"A canoe with nacelles on is a step up from the Steamrunner, Commander." Hannah said flippantly. "You know as well as I do that if I was anyone else's daughter, I would be at least AssTac on a Sovereign or Excalibur class. Is there nothing else?"

"Well, the Pegasus said they might be interested..."

"I'll take it."

"It's a Centaur class, bu..."

"I'll take it. Sort out the paperwork."

And, not giving him a chance to even open his mouth in disagreement, Hannah rose and left the room. She smiled as she exited the building. Now, all she had to do was to find out whether the Centaur class was the one woth the nacelles on the top and bottom, or whether that was the Cheyenne class...
